Andrew McAllister, President + Creative Director
Prior to establishing McAllister Media in 2002, Andrew gained global experience through his work with international agencies including Leo Burnett (Chicago), KesselsKramer (Amsterdam), and Crispin Porter & Bogusky (Los Angeles). Andrew worked on such brands as: Polaroid, Handspring Visor, US Army, Morgan Stanley Investments, Chicago Public Library, Oxfam Netherlands, Diesel Kids, Minnesota Women’s Workforce, PETA, and The Fine Living Channel. Andrew has supported organizations in the public and private sector working with them to brand their companies, services and products in creative ways that are on strategy and meet company objectives. He works to apply strategic advertising campaigns integrated across multiple types of media including print, radio and web, and leads the McAllister Media team in the design and delivery of all creative solutions and media. Andrew holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria and studied Art Direction and Graphic Design at the world renowned Miami Ad School.
Tracy McAllister, Vice President + Director of Marketing
Tracy has over 10 years of online marketing and market research experience within the private and public sector. Tracy’s rich background includes experience in the following areas: research and development; marketing strategy and plans that build brand recognition and increase market share; development of marketing and social media collateral including articles, white papers, email newsletters, media releases; event management and promotions; and design and development of websites and electronic content. In addition, Tracy brings experience in development of online marketing strategies that drive traffic to websites - including search engine optimization and management, email marketing - and has designed several social media campaigns. Tracy has a degree in Sociology specializing in research methods and statistics from the University of Victoria and has 10+ years of experience in managing large projects and accounts in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
Jenny Johnston, Account Manager
Jenny holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. Since graduating in 2008 she has gained valuable experience in the Management Consulting Industry as a Business Analyst for Government and Public Agencies, Non-Profit Organizations and Small and Medium-sized Businesses. In this role, Jenny was involved with hands on facilitation and consultation sessions and was responsible for developing clear strategic plans that helped define strategic direction and goals, identifying strategies to achieve objectives and build capabilities and undertaking efficient and comprehensive marketplace research. Jenny is committed to ensuring your business is successful by helping find creative ways to communicate your brand effectively while ensuring projects are kept within scope and achieve their objectives on time and on budget.
Jon Gugin, Graphic + Website Designer
Trained as a Graphic Designer from the Pacific Design Academy and through working with Island Graphics and McAllister Media, Jon has over 5 years experience with logo design, corporate identity packages, marketing material, print production and website design. His background also includes traditional Arts where he has fine-tuned his ability to create impactful illustrations. Jon has a natural artistic eye for design and typography and has a passion for video and film production. Jon has worked on graphic design projects for such clients as Basketball Canada, Vancouver Island Brewery, Maria Montessori Academy, Derma Spa, Queenswood Consulting Group, ASPECT, Big Bus Sightseeing and many others.
Deirdre Ward, Graphic Designer
Deirdre graduated from The Blanche Macdonald Institute of Design in 2001. Soon after, she apprenticed with Patricia Fieldwalker. While at Fieldwalker’s, Deirdre was employed as a design floor assistant, orchestrating fashion layouts for such publications as Elle, Vogue and Glamour. In 2003 Deirdre was offered the position of Lead Designer at Boardroom Clothing, a Vancouver-based manufacturer. During her five years at Boardroom, she designed several private label lines and graphic identity packages for companies such as Whistler/Blackcomb, Big White, Silver Star, Kicking Horse, Soloman, Decente and Mercedez. Deirdre has a range of experience that includes branding, visual identities, website design and running the promotions department at the Pacific Design Academy, as well as teaching fashion and graphic design.
Amanda Hemingway, Junior Graphic Designer
In 2008, Amanda graduated from the Applied Communications Program at Camosun College. Having a strong visual arts background and keen interest in print media, Amanda excelled in print and web design aspect of the program. Since graduating, Amanda gained experience working as a desktop publisher for a local Real Estate Agent as well as doing freelance design for some local Victoria business’ and non-profit organizations. Amanda recently joined McAllister Media and has been working on design and layout projects for the Inter-cultural Association of Greater Victoria, Barclay’s Fine Custom Jewellers, Derma Spa, Every Aspect and many others.
Chris Burdge, Social Media + SEO Strategist (Strategic Partner)
Chris Burdge first got involved with online marketing in 1993, just prior to the launch of Netscape (Mozilla) the world’s first web browser. Since that time Chris has been leveraging Internet based communications to build brands and move products for fortune 1,000 companies such as BMW Japan, HP, Kia, Nestle, Purina, as well as smaller businesses like AbeBooks and Planet Organic Market. In 2009 Chris founded bWEST Interactive, a new type of social media consulting business focused on helping environmentally and sustainably responsible companies grow their businesses using social media and emerging web technology. Prior to starting bWEST, Chris led interactive marketing strategy at Suburbia Advertising, AbeBooks, Publicis and Cove-Ito Advertising in Tokyo, Japan. Chris regularly speaks at conferences, trade shows, and corporate events about social media and online marketing strategies, trends, and tactics.
Shannon MacLeod, Online Marketing + Conversion (Strategic Partner)
Shannon has 15 years experience in online sales and marketing. Her past experience includes Director of eCommerce at ACD Systems in Victoria, where she was responsible for $20M in annual online revenue of photo imaging software. ACD sent over 70M emails a year in 14 different languages! She then became the VP of Marketing at Riptown Media/Bodog.com. Shannon grew the marketing team from 6 to 60 in 18 months and delivered a 4x ROI on every marketing dollar spent. In 2006, Shannon founded Conversion Geek Corp to focus on her true passion: increasing conversion rates in shopping carts, improving open rates in email campaigns, and increasing click-thru rates in banners. Shannon brings a unique combination of exceptional strategy, creative design, diligent execution, and proven results. She currently works on online projects for Costco Photo Center, CVS Pharmacy, and Absolute Software.
